Urban Tap: Our Favorite Pittsburgh Happy Hour Destination

If you’re looking for a great deal on tasty food, craft beer and specialty cocktails, look no further—The Urban Tap is your happy hour destination.

We always loved grabbing drinks at the location on E. Carson St., but The Urban Tap became our top pick with the addition of its Shadyside gastropub and draft house in November.

With over 100 beers on tap, The Urban Tap in Shadyside is a favorite spot among Pittsburgh’s craft beer crowd.

What if you don’t consider yourself much of a beer expert? We feel you. We felt overwhelmed by the pages upon pages of the newspaper-style draft list, but the knowledgeable staff was happy to point us in the right direction! Tell them Blue Moon is your go-to, and they will recommend another Belgian-style beer like Full Pint’s White Lightning, brewed in North Versailles. Our waiter even brought us a sample of one of his favorites so we could see if we liked it before ordering.

We love going to The Urban Tap for happy hour to try new beers for a great price while all drafts are 1/2 off! Flights are not included in the happy hour deal, but ordering one is a great option if you’re feeling indecisive.

For around $8 you can taste 4 beers in generously size sampling glasses.

If the sight of all those taps does nothing for you, take a peek at the craft cocktail menu! You can enjoy a drink for $2 off during happy hour!

We love the Katy Berry (partially because we appreciate a good pun)!

Small plates are also discounted during happy hour, and their food is made from scratch. We urge you to come hungry because their unique menu items are worth trying. We love the pork belly tacos (with some toppings we weren’t even sure how to pronounce). If your tastebuds are a little less adventurous, you can build your own burger.

You’ll also want to keep The Urban Tap in mind for your weekend brunch! Don’t miss out on their unbelievable Bloody Mary bar.

Although parking can be tough in Southside and Shadyside, The Urban Tap tries to make it easy. There is a parking lot directly next to the Southside location, and valet service is available for a $6 charge in Shadyside.
