Watching: The Affair on Showtime

This must see series just finished up its third season. Dominic West (you may have seen him on The Wire) and Ruth Wilson are the main characters in this heart pounding love affair that they are sharing in, despite both of their marriages to other people. Each episode splits into a two-parter when Noah and Allison tell the story from both of their perspectives. The seemingly innocent fling spirals out of control in this unexpected thriller that results in a murder (Don’t worry no spoilers here, they tell you who bites the dust in episode one).

Reading: Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham

If you love Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls and you loved her even more in the Gilmore revival, read her newest book “Talking as Fast as I Can.” Refreshingly funny tales of her life from then and now, and everything in between. This biographical journey is sure to make you love her even more.

Listening to: Tell Me I’m Pretty by Cage the Elephant

A little less alternative rock a little more 60’s pop rock mix. Somehow this Cage the Elephant installment snuck by me a year ago but it’s all I’ve been listening to lately. The band continues to impress with their unique lead vocals and instrumental magic.

Watching: ABC’s American Crime

I’m a little late to the game on this one, but I had been searching for a new series to watch and was having a tough time getting into anything. I finally settled on American Crime, and I ended up finishing the whole first season in just two days. This series beautifully portrays raw and real characters and illustrates that right and wrong is not always black and white.

Reading: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

After seeing this book plastered all over social media, I finally decided to go out and grab a copy. It stands up to the hype. Even if you’re not into poetry, I guarantee Rupi Kaur’s words will mean something to you. She writes about universal topics: hurting, loving, breaking and healing.

Listening to: The La La Land Soundtrack

I have not stopped whistling and tapping my toes since I saw La La Land in theaters. I’m pretending I live in a vibrant musical wonderland by blaring the jazzy tunes from the movie’s soundtrack while washing  dishes and doing other mundane tasks.
