FALL in Love With Your City this October

It seems Pittsburgh is ready to stow away the swimsuits and bring out the cozy sweaters…even if the weather won’t let us!

With temps finally creeping into the 60’s this week, fall vibez are following suite. Here’s a list of harvest themed and spooky must-do’s that are taking place in your city this fall.

1. Jam on Walnut: Halloween

Head down on Walnut Street in Shadyside on October 20th for your favorite block party with a Halloween themed twist.

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas hosted by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

On Thursday the 18th, the soundtrack of your favorite spooky flick is coming to Heinz Hall. Hurry up and grab your tickets for next Thursday here!

3. Manor at Midnight: The Shining

Need an alternate to the party-all-night vibe on Walnut Street? On October 20th at Midnight, The Manor Theater on Murray Ave. is hosting it’s annual showing of The Shining. Grab tickets here.

4. Spooky Flicks at Row House Cinema

All month long, you can catch your favorite classics and new comer horror films at one of our favorite Pittsburgh staples. If you’re a fan of the old authentic silent films, they’re hosting a ‘Silent Sunday’ on October 21st featuring the following black and white’s:

Fantômas: In The Shadow Of The Guillotine (1913)
Faust (1926)
Nosferatu (1922)
The Golem (1920)
The Phantom Of The Opera (1925)
Vampyr (1932)

5. 21+ Night at the Carnegie Science Center: Romero Lives

We adults like a reason to get spooky too…

Join your fellow 21 and up peers for an awesome night including themed cocktails, a screening of a George Romero Classic, ‘Creepshow’, adult trick-or-treat, rivers casino vouchers, live brain observations, karaoke , and so much more! See a full lift of details, and purchase tickets here!

6. Murder Mystery at the Museum: Adult Sleepover

The Carnegie Science Center just turned our Night at the Museum fantasy into a reality. The first ever adult- only overnight includes a Murder Mystery performance that turns your night into a real life CLUE (except everyone lives in this version, don’t worry!). Late night snack and a continental breakfast are included, so you won’t go hungry. It’s a little pricier than most activities we’ve listed, but this unique experience seems worth it! 7. Cattivo Halloween Horror Show

October 27th. Be there. In your costume. Maybe you’ll win a prize. Live Music. Alcohols. Nuff said. Here’s a link.

8. Brillobox Myspace Night

If you need to let your inner EMO out, try out this trendy bar on October 19th for a Halloween themed dance party with live DJ’s. There’s a $5 cover at the door, and be sure to wear your best costume of course!

9. The Neighborhood Flea in Pittsburgh’s Strip District

Join your favorite local vendors this Sunday for the monthly Neighborhood Flea! I’m sure you’ll find some fall-themed goodies here too!

10. Fall Clothing Swap @ ACE Hotel

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Bring your loved goods to the ACE Hotel for this clothing swap on Sunday the 14th.

11. Zombie Den: Bar of the Living Dead

On October 3rd, The Original Oyster House in Market Square opened for a month long run of a Night of The Living Dead themed zombie bar. Stop in on select nights for an authentic bunker style pop up experience! For more information click here. 


There are endless fall activities in the Burgh this season; these were just a few we dug out out for you that seemed interesting! For more event suggestions, try checking out Facebook’s event tab.

Some of our favorite local spots to get fall themed drinks and treats include Arsenal Cider, Threadbare Cider, Sorgel Orchards, and Southern Tier Brewing Co. Most local coffee shops in the area give in to your pumpkin spice cravings. Here’s a link to some of our faves in that department!
