Our new category of posts, “Give Back,” will highlight nonprofit organizations in the area and offer suggestions on how you can get involved!
The Best of the Batch Foundation, founded by NFL quarterback Charlie Batch, services children and families in distressed communities through a variety of programs. These programs focus on education, sports/recreation and leadership/community.
Mission:
Unlocking potential in communities to build the best future for kids and families by providing choices, motivation and education.
The foundation is in the process of planning a major expansion, including the construction of a new 15,000 square-foot clubhouse which will include a STEAM Lab, Cyber Cafe, dance studio and gymnasium. This project, with continued support from the community, will allow the Best of the Batch Foundation to amplify its already far-reaching impact on local youth and families.
Here’s where you come in:
There are many ways you can get involved with the Best of the Batch Foundation. We’ve outlined a few upcoming volunteer opportunities for you below, and you can visit their website for more information about how you can help!
Batch A Toys

> Donate a new unwrapped toy
The foundation adopts local families during the Christmas season to help make their holiday special. You can help by donating a new unwrapped gift on Giving Tuesday, November 29, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the US Steel Building. If you can’t make it that day, you can drop off your gift at any area Dunkin Donuts or another designated drop site.
> Help wrap presents in Santa’s Workshop
Last year, Batch A Toys collected more than 5,000 toys. The goal this year is 8,000 toys, which will require a lot of gift wrap! If you are interested in joining the wrap party on December 10, you can fill out this volunteer form online. Sign ups will be closing soon, so act fast!
Tutoring

> Spread some knowledge
Education is core to everything the Best of the Batch Foundation does. You can support the foundation’s commitment to growing educational programs as a volunteer, assisting children with their homework after school or serving as a teacher’s assistant during holiday breaks. Fill out the volunteer form to express interest.
