Q & A with Brianna
PS: What made you want to start your own business?
BL: I have always had an entrepreneurial side, and I remember one summer a few years ago I really wanted to plan an efficient and proactive way to begin planning to pay off my college loans. I figured I should do something with my passions in art and design, and launched my own business the summer of 2014! Originally, I began creating custom glassware for bridal parties, weddings, custom gifts, sports fanatics from wine glasses, shot glasses, to pilsner mugs and more. I evolved into jewelry this past winter and haven’t looked back.
PS: How would you describe the aesthetic of your jewelry?
BL: I pride myself on creating jewelry that is individually unique where no two pieces are the same. While the style of pieces are linear, the raw stones and their natural shape and color always vary resulting in original pieces 100% of the time. Aesthetically, I strive to create pieces that also have personal meaning to the wearer and love receiving custom orders. I am definitely a minimalist, and this shows through my pieces.
PS: What materials do you use?
BL: I started out using sea glass in my pieces and have transitioned into incorporating healing stones such as various colors of quartz including smokey, rose, blue, white, and clear as well as agate stones and blown glass beads. I love using raw stones, but have also began incorporating faceted pieces for those consumers who love the added shine it gives to quartz and agate. Besides the stones, I use chain metal for the necklaces and bracelets, mostly in gold and silver. I have also made choker necklaces using velvet and bracelets using authentic and vintage leathers!
PS: What is your favorite piece of jewelry to craft?
BL: Right now my favorite piece to craft are my dainty choker necklaces. They are so different than the velvet chokers we see trending and feature a chain link choker with teeny tiny glass blown beads in an assortment of colors in a simply, minimal horizontal line. It is perfect for layering with some of my other pieces and is versatile if anyone has a favorite color I can be sure to have a specific glass bead blown for them from a local supplier.
PS: Can your pieces be worn by all ages?
BL: Most definitely! I ensure my products reach consumers of all ages. From leather pieces to the more fashion-forward choker necklaces, I have had generations from all ages shop with me. Just yesterday I finalized a partnership with Chic Chateau, a children’s boutique in Boardman, OH with a new line of children’s jewelry! I haven’t released the photos yet, but we are super excited for it to hit their shelves and my site!
PS: What is the most rewarding part about having your own line?
BL: I would have to say seeing my business double in sales and social media followers the past month has been an incredible feeling. Even more exciting, I have recently had opportunities to sign partnerships with local boutiques and am currently displaying my pieces in three states and four boutiques. I feel so much pride and happiness seeing my consumers hashtag #lebeauverre when they wear my pieces. I would have to say one of the most rewarding memories I have experienced thus far was at an art show I exhibited in and a woman walked by, saw my jewelry and logo, and exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! You’re the jeweler I follow in Instagram with all the photos with your jewelry and the Pittsburgh bridges!”. It really spoke to how important branding can be!
